Our focus on Housing will be on access, equality, and affordability. We shall institute a Housing Policy that would outline our plans and aspirations for housing and this policy shall take cue from the housing policies of Singapore. To learn from the successes of the Singapore Housing Development Board (HDB)
We will establish a bilateral relationship with Singapore to support our housing policy aspirations and in the process enable the Social Security & Housing Finance Corporation adopt best practice from the Housing Development Board of Singapore.
Within the framework of this long-term plan, our immediate short-term plan shall be to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the existing Tenancy & Housing regulations, the ‘Agency’ mishap associated with housing, and putting in place regulations that shall compel Landlords to provide housing facilities that are optimal and commensurate to prevailing housing rental rates.
In line with our housing philosophy, we would revisit the laws relating to land and the land tenure system and the existing regulations pertaining to the institutions responsible for land, urban planning, building permits, real estate, and housing in general.
In addition, matters of sanitation and hygiene relating to housing shall reign supreme in our housing agenda. Issues of sewerage, and unsanitary environmental hazards, especially during the rainy season, are matters of paramount urgency that we will address.
Making maritime a fundamental priority is essential for the Peoples Transformation Party.
